In industrial equipment, the reliability of Pump Motor often depends on a seemingly tiny component - sealing material. Sealing failure may lead to liquid leakage, component corrosion and even equipment shutdown, while choosing the right sealing material can effectively extend the service life of Pump Motor and reduce maintenance costs. The following are the key reasons and practical solutions for how sealing materials affect the life of equipment.
1. The corrosion resistance of sealing materials determines the stability of equipment
Pump Motor is often exposed to media such as water, oil, and chemical solvents. For example, in petroleum equipment, sealing materials need to withstand acidic media and high-pressure environments. If ordinary rubber seals are used, they may deform or crack due to chemical corrosion in the short term.
Solution: High-fluorine-containing fluororubber (fluorine content ≥70%) can resist the erosion of strong acids, strong alkalis and hydrocarbon solvents due to its stable molecular structure. Actual cases show that after a certain oilfield equipment uses customized high-fluorine rubber seals, the service life is increased from 1 month to 6 months, and there is no risk of leakage.
2. Temperature and pressure adaptability affect seal durability
Pump Motor may face extreme temperature fluctuations (-40℃ to 250℃) and high pressure shocks during operation. For example, if ordinary silicone seals are used in hydraulic pumps under high temperature and high pressure, they are prone to lose elasticity due to thermal aging, resulting in seal failure.
Solution:
High temperature environment: Modified silicone can withstand high temperatures of 300℃ while maintaining elasticity, which is suitable for high-speed motor seals.
High pressure scenario: Nylon gaskets can withstand pressures above 30bar due to their high mechanical strength and creep resistance, and the cost is lower than that of metal materials.
3. The relationship between dynamic wear and material wear resistance
The rotating shaft of the Pump Motor rubs against the seal for a long time. If the material has insufficient wear resistance, the seal wear will be accelerated. For example, a filter device was frequently squeezed and broken due to seals. After replacing it with high fluorine rubber containing wear-resistant fillers, the service life was extended by 20 times.
Technical breakthrough: Hard materials such as silicon carbide (SiC) are paired with graphite to reduce friction loss, especially for pump body seals containing particulate media.
4. Environmental regulations promote material upgrades
Global environmental policies are becoming stricter, requiring sealing materials to have low VOC emissions and be recyclable. For example, BASF's TPU material has become a new choice for automotive and industrial equipment seals due to its low volatility, oil resistance and self-healing function.
Customized solutions: the core of extending life
The performance of sealing materials must be precisely matched to the working conditions. For example:
Sewage treatment pumps: corrosion-resistant fluororubber + silicon carbide combination is required.
Agricultural irrigation pumps: nylon gaskets are used to balance cost and pressure resistance requirements.
Through material formulation optimization (such as adjusting the filler ratio) and precision processing technology, pain points such as leakage and aging can be targeted.
